The Man Who Wears Orange and Carries Hope

Meet Omkar Nath Sharma, affectionately known as “Medicine Baba”, the man who walks miles every day in a saffron kurta—not to preach, but to collect unused medicines and give them to those who can’t afford them. A retired blood bank technician from Kailash Hospital, Greater Noida, Sharma’s story isn’t just about generosity—it’s about finding purpose after 70.

Born around 1940 in Uttar Pradesh, India, Omkar Nath Sharma started his mission at the age of 72, proving that retirement is not the end, but a beginning—especially when fueled by compassion.

A Tragedy That Sparked a Lifelong Mission

In 2008, Sharma witnessed a life-altering incident. In East Delhi, an under-construction metro bridge collapsed, killing two and injuring several laborers. When he visited the hospital, he saw something that broke his heart—injured workers were turned away or given only basic aid because they couldn’t afford medicines.
