Can you take the Booster Dose in India. If yes, then how ?

The Ministry  of Health & Family welfare announced that  from January 10, 2022,  one crore health workers, three crore frontline workers and 2.75 crore pre-ill senior citizens of 60 years of age and above will start getting the precautionary dose or third dose of corona vaccine.

Precautionary dose or the third dose are the same thing. 

Also  the same vaccine will be administered as the third dose of booster or precaution dose of vaccine and no mix and match will be allowed as of now.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the precautionary dose only on 25 December last month. At present, health workers and frontline workers will get this third dose as well as senior citizens suffering from serious diseases. Check everything about the covid third dose.

Can you  take the precautionary dose?

At present, only health workers, front line workers or senior citizens who are suffering from serious diseases in the country will get the precautionary dose or booster dose. Senior citizens suffering from serious diseases will be able to take precautionary doses only on the advice of their doctor.

Is registration required for the 3rd dose? If yes, how will it happen?

The Ministry of Health has clarified that no registration will be required for the precautionary dose. Corona vaccine third dose will be given based on old registration. 

One can also register through the Cowin app.

Is an appointment even necessary for a booster dose?

The government has made some changes to the Cowin app for a precautionary dose. The government has added some features to the app, and you can directly take an appointment through this feature. Apart from this, you can get the third dose directly by going to the vaccination center. You will not need to make a new registration at the vaccination center. 

What should be the difference between the second dose and the third dose?

If you have received both the doses of the corona vaccine and nine months have elapsed, then only you will be eligible for the 3rd dose. It means, there should be a difference of at least nine months between the second and third doses. 

Will there be any message regarding the precautionary dosage?

The Ministry of Health has sent messages to those people who got both doses of the vaccine nine months ago. Apart from this, the ministry also said that if someone does not get the message, then they should check the difference between doses.

Are there any papers to be carried to the vaccination center?

Yes, voter ID, Aadhar card, PAN card, driving license must carry any one identity card to get the precautionary dose.
