Usha Shrotriya: At 62, She Turned Her Homemade Laddus into a Nationwide Brand

Usha Shrotriya Is Making Time-Tested Nutrition Accessible For Modern Moms

From Family Kitchen to Food Innovation

In the quiet town of Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, Usha Shrotriya grew up learning the art of healing through food. Raised in a traditional household, she memorized ancient recipes passed down from her mother and grandmother—recipes that didn’t just feed, but nourished the soul.

Usha, a graduate from Rohilkhand University, once dreamed of wearing a police uniform. But life, as it often does, led her down a different path. She became a homemaker, a mother of three, a quiet keeper of culture and care. Her kitchen was her canvas, her ladles her paintbrushes.

The Laddu That Sparked a Legacy

In 2021, at age 62, a simple act of love set the stage for something extraordinary. She was preparing gond laddus—rich, wholesome treats—for her pregnant daughter-in-law. Watching her son snack on one, she heard him mutter, “If only I could carry these to office like protein bars.”

That moment? It was her a-ha!.

Usha wondered: “Why not turn our traditional laddus into healthy, portable bars?” Snacks that blend ancient wisdom with modern needs.

Trial, Error, and the Taste of Triumph

The journey was anything but instant. Usha experimented relentlessly—over 80 variations. She tweaked proportions of millets, jaggery, dates, nuts, methi, kamarkas, all while cutting down on ghee and sugar. She wanted something nutritious, durable, yet comforting—something that would still taste like maa ke haath ka khana.

With her son Yash and his friend Kunal, Mama Nourish was born in late 2023. A brand inspired by nani ke nuskhe and powered by modern convenience.

Taking Flight: From Home to Airports and Tech Giants

Mama Nourish didn’t just stay in the kitchen. Netflix India became their first client, followed by Google, Meta, Axis Bank, IKEA, and more. Her laddus traveled across India—sold at airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad.

In less than a year, Mama Nourish sold over 1 lakh bars—and Usha became the face of age-defying innovation.

No Age Limit on Dreams

Now 65, Usha Shrotriya is not just a founder—she’s a movement. She’s brought back the value of traditional Indian nutrition in a form today’s generation can appreciate and consume. She reminds us age is just a number—but your recipe for success? That’s always in your hands. Like Usha turned sweetness into success, we turn ageing into empowerment.
